Program
Goal:
The goal
of the program is to provide affordable quality developmental child
care for families. Program activities promote age appropriate growth
and development for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years while providing
support and opportunities for parents/guardians to obtain and/or
maintain employment or enrollment in school/training proram that leads
to sustained employment.
Curriculum:
The curriculum used at CCH is Emergent and Creative Curriculum. The
teachers work with the children individually based on their
developmental level, interest and desires. This curriculum allows the
child to initiate activities within the classroom with the support of
the teacher. Using our Creative Curriculum the teachers provide a
variey of activities to increase each child's creative expression.
Programs:
We
emphasize experiential, creative and expressive learning that allows
children to build upon what they have already accomplished at their own
individual pace and level of development. The teacher's goal is to
build on the child's cognitive, social, emotional, and
perceptual/physical growth. Lesson plans reflect new educational goals
and ongoing goals based upon the outcomes of the assessments done on
the children.
Infants
(ages 6 weeks to 18 months):
With the
new facility, we have opened 2 new classrooms for infants. In the
infant rooms, the children follow their own individual schedules, with
teachers planning activities based on each child's developmental needs.
Toddlers
(ages 18 months to 3 years):
Teachers
in our two toddler rooms focus on the individual needs of the children,
while helping them learn to become part of a group. Language arts, art,
and conceptual activities are planned within a free flowing schedule
suitable to the needs of these young children. Learning centers focus
on reading, large and small motor development, home living, and blocks.
Preschool:
Children 3
to 5 years old spend time on self-help, social, cognitive and language
development skills. This is done through activities such as: arts
& crafts, group time (singing and reading), home living,
cooking, field trips, large muscle play (inside and outside), fine
motor activities, learning centers and classroom computers.
Our Kindergarten Readiness Program helps prepare 5 year olds for a
smooth transition into their first year of school. The Kindergarten
Readiness teacher helps children recognize their numbers, letters, and
many other areas that help with being prepared for Kindergarten.
ELI
(Early Learning Initiative)
Available
to our preschool children, the ELI program enhances our program by
providing services such as speech and hearing, health screenings,
mental health and additional developmental screenings for eligible
children.
School-age:
Children
ages 5 to 12 years are transported to and from five area schools. This
group, named "The Bears", participate in a Ladies and Gentleman Club
that focuses on academic excellence, manners, personal hygiene, social
skills, and respect.
Full day care is available for school age children during the summer.
Summer activities include: regular field trips, visits to the library
and creative art and educational activities.
