VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
"Our house is a special place. It is a place where the spectrum of
human experience from very young to very old-converges. At our house,
we believe there is no greater investment than human potential."
This quote encapsulates the mission, spirit, and the joy of the work we
do here at Central Community House (CCH). We believe that volunteerism
is also an important investment in human potential. We believe that
volunteer opportunities at Central Community House are designed to
provide adults and youth with experiences that are important and
rewarding to them and will improve the quality of life for the
residents in our community.
As a volunteer there are several opportunities for you to be involved
in the CCH community. They include our after school program which is
designed for youth ages 6 through 11, and our S.U.C.C.E.S.S. (Study
Understanding Creativity Commitment Education Socialization
Scholarship) program that focuses on tutoring and academic enrichment
activities. Additionally, there are opportunities to volunteer with our
senior outreach program. This program focuses on socialization
activities for senior citizens residing in our community. Further,
there are specialized opportunities to volunteer on projects during the
year, especially during the winter holiday season.
It is our belief that people involved with other people in meaningful
volunteer activities makes neighborhoods closer, stronger, safer, and
more resilient. We encourage you to assist us in this effort by sharing
your gifts and talents with us. We are confident that your volunteer
experience with us will be truly rewarding. Contact us at 252-3157 or email
us at support@cchouse.org.
IN-KIND
CONTRIBUTIONS
Sometimes
in our desire to assist organizations that are working to improve the
human condition we find that we may not be able to commit time as a
volunteer and still wonder "How can I help?" One way that organizations
such as Central Community House can benefit is through in-kind
contributions. In-kind contributions may be items that you have around
the house or office for which you no longer have a use and that could
benefit someone else. In-kind contributions can also be new items that
you would like to purchase and donate to an organization.
While In-kind contributions help to enable us to use our fiscal
resources for direct services, the donor receives a tax benefit, as the
fair market value of these items may be written off as a charitable
contribution.
A few of the items you might consider as in-kind contributions include:
Computers (w/Pentium processor, a/v cards) and monitors
Educational Computer software
Food certificates (for meat and fresh produce) from local supermarkets
Food donations (canned and boxed) from local supermarkets
Garden items, Board Games, Books
Personal care items
Gently used or new toys
Arts and Crafts supplies
Diapers and Baby food/formula
You may contact one of the program directors for more information on
in-kind contributions.
