Meet Kat

A force. A change maker. An artist. All words that describe Kat, one of our community leaders who started coming to Central Community House in middle school.

  • “It’s a necessity. It’s a pillar. It’s home.”

    — Kat, on the impact of CCH

Igniting Her Passion

As required by her parents, Kat came through our doors unwillingly at first. However, through her participation in after school and community activities, Central Community House and our TRANSIT ARTS program ignited her lifelong passion for the arts. 13 years later, she’s a well-respected artist, poet and singer in the Columbus community.

Central Community House not only propelled her career, but it became her community. Kat now serves as the TRANSIT ARTS Program Manager, teaching and leading the next generation of Columbus young artists. For Kat Central is so much more than after school activity, “it’s a necessity. It's a pillar. It's home.”

“When she started she was really shy. Then she brought in a sketchbook and didn't stop drawing.”
